Statens Serum Institut (SSI) follows an active patent policy in the fields of core research. SSI also patents inventions done outside our main research areas, if the particular invention is technological and economic promising. In such cases the aim is to establish a collaborate research, develop a pharmaceutical, out-licensing or establish the opportunity for independent spin-of companies.
The core research areas at SSI are research, development and production of vaccines and diagnosis & diagnostics. We maintain patents and apply for patents within all these areas.
Our patent portfolio at present includes the following research areas:
- Diagnostics & diagnostics: PCR kits (E.coli, Legionella, and Dermatophytes), antibiotic resistance test plate and diagnostic antigens for tuberculosis.
- Vaccines: Tuberculosis, klamydia, HIV, malaria, influenza, and adjuvants.
SSI respects the Intellectual Property rights of others and is happy to in-license to develop and exploit a promising and/or profitable technology.
