INTERVALS BETWEEN VACCINATIONS
Vaccine | Age at vaccination | Interval | Recommended | Min. | Max. | DTaPIPV/Act-Hib (basic vaccination) | 3 months | Between 1st and 2nd injection | 2 months | 1 month | None | 5 months | Between 2nd and 3rd injection | 7 months | 6 months | None | 12 months | | | | | MMR | 15 months | Between 1st and 2nd injection | Appr. 11 years | 1 month | None | 12 years | | | | | DTaP-IPV Booster (revaccination) | 5 years | From the last basic vaccination | 4 years | 4 years | None | Td (revaccination) | | From the last revaccination | Every 10 years | 10 years | None | In order to get the children vaccinated as quickly and efficient as possible, it is recommended to follow the vaccination schedule wherever possible. As a rule, vaccination should be postponed if the child has a fever. Common cold without fever is not a reason to postpone vaccination. Any possible postponement should be discussed with the general practitioner. If the vaccination schedule is followed, the remaining vaccinations should be given as soon as possible (see minimum intervals above). Even if the recommended time interval has been exceeded, the vaccination series should never be re-started. It is recommended to continue with the next dose in the series.
Adaption to the Danish childhood vaccination programme Children of foreign origin have often been vaccinated according to another programme. Refer to EPI-NEWS 50/01 regarding further vaccination.
Concurrent vaccination with more than one vaccine
- All vaccines may be given at the same time, but at different injection sites
- The vaccines cannot be mixed, unless specifically stated in the package information leaflets
- Different vaccines may be given with arbitrary intervals
